This section of the site tries to answer the most common question I'm asked about my car and this very long process I've been going through to restore it. The single most common question is this in one form or another: "Why are you going through so much trouble to restore a 1979 Nova which will never have any value ?" The first reason and the most obvious is that I like the car and I miss driving it. The car took me through the last part of college and the couple years following. The car bring back a lot of good memories. Of the cars my friends and I had in college this is the only one that remains. Marc's Honda is long gone as is Joel's Escort. My friend Todd's station wagon was the last to go, it was junked around 1998 as I remember. Of those college cars this is the only one left. Though the car has no monetary value it has value to me. Another reason (and the one my Mom thinks is the largest) is because my Dad once told me "Throw that car away. It can't be fixed." Because he told me it couldn't be done I had to do it. The fact is that I have. The chassis is all but finished. The worst part of this rebuild has been completed at the time of this writing. All that's left now is the fun part, re-assembly. |
